3 Ways to Get Lockpicks in Oblivion

Introduction:

In the immersive world of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, picking locks is a useful skill that allows players to access treasure chests, hidden rooms, and locked doors. As any experienced adventurer knows, a trusty set of lockpicks is an essential tool in the game. This article outlines three ways to acquire lockpicks in Oblivion, helping you become a master thief and unlock the secrets of this vast world.

1. Purchase from Vendors:

One of the easiest ways to find lockpicks in Oblivion is to purchase them from vendors who sell thieving supplies. Most general goods merchants carry a small stock of lockpicks, but specialized vendors like the proprietor of “The Thieves’ Den” in Imperial City’s Waterfront District will always have plenty of picks for sale. Prices can vary depending on your bartering skills and relationship with the vendor, so always check around for the best deal before buying.

2. Steal from Thieves and Bandits:

Many non-player characters (NPCs) in Oblivion possess lockpicks, particularly thieves and bandits you encounter throughout the game. If you’re feeling stealthy or want to hone your pickpocketing skills, try stealing lockpicks from unsuspecting NPCs. Be cautious when attempting this method, as getting caught can lead to fights or criminal bounties. To raise your chances of success, target sleeping NPCs or invest in abilities that increase your sneak skill.

3. Complete Quests and Explore Guilds:

There are various quests and guilds in Oblivion that can provide you with lockpicks as rewards or allow you access to areas stocked with these valuable tools. For instance, joining the Thieves Guild not only offers multiple quests that reward lockpick supplies but also gives you access to their fenced merchant who sells lockpicks exclusively. Additionally, searching abandoned houses, dungeons, and bandit hideouts can yield chests or containers with lockpicks to add to your inventory.

Conclusion:

While venturing through the vast world of Oblivion, don’t let locked doors or treasure chests stop you from exploring every corner. Keep these three methods in mind as you play the game, and you’ll never run out of lockpicks to unlock the secrets of Tamriel. Happy adventuring!
