3 Ways to Find Your Sunglasses Size

Finding the perfect pair of sunglasses is not only about looking stylish, but also about making sure they fit comfortably on your face. A well-fitting pair of sunglasses will not only provide optimal protection from the sun’s harmful rays, but also help you avoid headaches or discomfort caused by ill-fitting frames. Here are three methods to determine your sunglasses size and find the perfect pair for your face.

1. Measure Your Face

The first step in finding your sunglasses size is to measure the dimensions of your face. You’ll need a flexible measuring tape or a piece of string and a ruler for this method.

– Start by measuring your temple-to-temple width. Hold one end of the measuring tape at the outer edge of one eyebrow and measure across your forehead to the outer edge of the other eyebrow.

– Next, measure the bridge of your nose – this is crucial in determining how comfortably a pair of sunglasses will sit on your face. Measure the width of your nose just above the nostrils.

– Finally, measure your cheekbone width, from just below one eye to just below the other eye.

Once you’ve measured these dimensions, you can start looking for sunglasses that match these dimensions.

2. Look for Frame Measurements

Most sunglasses come with a set of frame measurements inscribed on their inner arm or temples. These measurements typically include three numbers, such as 54-18-140, which represent:

– The lens width (54mm)

– The bridge width (18mm)

– The temple/arm length (140mm)

Compare these numbers with your facial measurements to find a pair that fits well. As a rule of thumb, look for frames with a lens width that is nearly equal to your temple-to-temple measurement and a bridge width that is close to the measurement you took of your nose bridge.

3. Pay Attention to Frame Styles and Shape

Different frame shapes can cater to different face shapes, making it essential to choose a style that complements and balances your facial features. Here are some general guidelines:

– If you have a round face, go for angular frames like rectangular or square shapes to add some definition.

– If you have a square face, opt for rounded or oval frames to soften your features.

– If you have an oval face, most frame shapes will work for you; try experimenting with different styles.

– If you have a heart-shaped face, choose frames that are wider at the bottom to balance out the width of your forehead.

By using these three methods to determine your sunglasses size, you’ll be on your way to finding the ideal pair that not only looks stylish but also protects your eyes in comfort.
