3 Simple Ways to Sleep After a Keratin Treatment

After undergoing a keratin treatment, one of the primary concerns people have is how to maintain the results for as long as possible. A significant aspect of this maintenance is how to sleep without jeopardizing the freshly treated hair. Here are three simple ways to ensure a restful night’s sleep while preserving your keratin treatment.

1. Use a silk or satin pillowcase

A silk or satin pillowcase is crucial when sleeping with just-treated hair. These materials not only minimize friction between your hair and the pillow fabric, but they also help reduce frizz, tangles, and split ends. Moreover, silk and satin do not absorb moisture from your hair as cotton does, ensuring that your hair stays hydrated and smooth throughout the night.

To benefit from this method, invest in good-quality silk or satin pillowcases and swap them in for your regular cotton ones. Remember also to clean them regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

2. Tie hair up loosely if necessary

Keeping your hair loose at night might not be comfortable for some people. If you want to tie up your hair, it’s important to form a very loose ponytail or bun on top of your head using a soft scrunchie. Avoid tight elastic bands as they can create indentations and may leave impressions that ruin the sleek appearance of keratin-treated hair.

By using a loose hairstyle during sleep, you minimize movement and friction against the pillowcase which could result in tangles or damage to your delicate treated hair.

3. Schedule an early appointment

Timing plays a critical role in getting optimal results from a keratin treatment. To give yourself some leverage at bedtime, try scheduling an early appointment in the day or go for a keratin treatment on days when you can skip late-night activities.

Going home early after receiving the treatment provides ample time for your hair to cool off and settle into its natural position. This comfortable adjustment period will prevent your hair from developing unwanted kinks or curls while you sleep.

Conclusion

Taking care of your keratin-treated hair at night is just as important as daytime maintenance. By using these three simple methods—investing in a silk or satin pillowcase, tying up your hair loosely, and scheduling an early appointment—you’ll effectively contribute to a longer-lasting, healthier look for your treasured hair. Follow these tips for a blissful night’s sleep without sacrificing the beautiful results of your keratin treatment.
