Cleaning your home doesn’t have to be a chore filled with harsh chemicals and expensive cleaners. Baking soda and vinegar are two common household items that can be used for a variety of cleaning tasks. Not only are they eco-friendly, but they’re also safe to use around children and pets. In this article, we’ll discuss 10 ways to use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning.

1. All-purpose cleaner: Mix equal parts of baking soda and warm water to create a paste, then add a few drops of liquid dish soap. This mixture works well as an all-purpose cleaner suitable for countertops, sinks, bathtubs, and tiles.

2. Unclog drains: Pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by half a cup of distilled white vinegar. Let the mixture sit for 15-20 minutes before flushing the drain with hot water.

3. Refresh carpets: Sprinkle dry baking soda over carpets or rugs, leave it for 15-20 minutes, then vacuum it up. This helps remove odors and leaves your carpets smelling fresh.

4. Clean ovens: Create a paste using ¾ cup baking soda and ¼ cup vinegar. Apply the mixture to the inside of your oven, covering all surfaces except heating elements. Let it sit overnight before scrubbing away the grime with a sponge or brush.

5. Clean grout: Combine equal parts baking soda and vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture onto grout-lines and let it sit for five minutes before scrubbing with an old toothbrush.

6. Remove hard water stains: Dip a rag in distilled white vinegar and wrap it around faucets or showerheads with hard water stains. Let it sit for a few hours before removing the rag and wiping away any remaining residue.

7. Polish silverware: Create a paste using three parts baking soda and one part water. Apply the paste to tarnished silverware and let it sit for a few minutes before buffing away tarnish with a dry, soft cloth.

8. Toilet cleaner: Pour half a cup of baking soda into your toilet bowl, then add one cup of distilled white vinegar. Allow the fizzing action to work for a few minutes before scrubbing with a toilet brush.

9. Remove stickers and labels: Soak a cloth or sponge in vinegar, then lay it over the sticker or label for 15-20 minutes. The adhesive should easily come off after soaking.

10. Glass cleaner: Mix equal parts water and vinegar in a spray bottle. Use this solution to clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces for streak-free results.

Armed with these cleaning hacks, baking soda and vinegar can become your go-to household cleaners. Not only are they effective at removing grime, but they’re also budget-friendly and environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical-laden cleaners. Try incorporating these cleaning solutions into your routine today!
