Open-world games are renowned for their ability to immerse players in vast, expansive universes brimming with activities. Among these activities, side quests are crucial for enriching the gaming experience, offering stories and challenges that can be just as compelling as the main narrative. Here are ten open-world games that offer some of the best side quests available in the gaming world.

1.The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red set a new standard for side quests with The Witcher 3. Each quest is a story within itself, filled with memorable characters, moral dilemmas, and consequences that actually affect the game world.

2.Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar’s Western epic isn’t just about the main storyline; its side quests present a series of vignettes that give life to the wild west world, making you feel like an actual part of its society.

3.The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda’s beloved fantasy RPG offers a plethora of side quests, ranging from joining various guilds to stumbling upon unique adventures like solving murders or hunting ghosts.

4.Fallout: New Vegas

The Mojave Wasteland is filled with intriguing side quests that carry significant weight and branching paths, crafted masterfully by Obsidian Entertainment to reflect your choices throughout your journey.

5.The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo’s open-air adventure introduces side quests that encourage exploration and puzzle-solving in new and innovative ways, blending seamlessly with Link’s larger quest.

6.Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

With ancient Greece as its playground, Odyssey excels in offering side quests that delve into mythology, politics, and personal stories that expand on the game’s historical setting.

7.Ghost of Tsushima

Sucker Punch Productions created side missions in this samurai tale that explore loyalty, sacrifice, and Japanese folklore while enhancing Jin’s abilities and relationships with other characters.

8.Horizon Zero Dawn

Guerrilla Games’ post-apocalyptic world is not only visually stunning but also home to side quests that flesh out Aloy’s interactions within varied tribal societies and with gigantic robotic creatures.

9.Divinity: Original Sin 2

Larian Studios presents a role-playing masterpiece where virtually every NPC has a story to tell, offering complex side quests that can be tackled in numerous ways depending on players’ choices.

10.Cyberpunk 2077

Despite its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City is teeming with engaging side content where each quest has depth, developed characters, and often tie back to V’s overarching narrative.

Side quests can turn an open-world game from good to great by providing variety and depth beyond the primary storyline. In these ten titles, players find themselves lost in worlds full of adventure and intrigue at every turn—a testament to the power of well-crafted side missions.
