The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced audiences to a new incarnation of the notorious Kingpin in its Netflix series, including “Daredevil.” Kingpin, portrayed masterfully by Vincent D’Onofrio, quickly became one of the most iconic villains within the MCU. Here are ten of his best quotes that encapsulate his menacing presence and complex character:

1. “I’m not a monster, I’m just ahead of the curve.”

2. “The city and its future… seeing Hell’s Kitchen to its fullest potential is very important to me.”

3. “I was thinking about what you said, about being lonely. Maybe you’re right. Maybe I am driven by my insecurities.”

4. “Hope… It can drive a man insane. It’s got no use on the inside. You should have learned that by now.”

5. “Power isn’t everything… it’s the only thing.”

6. “I’ve done things that I’m not proud of, Vanessa. I’ve hurt people and I’m going to hurt more. It’s impossible to avoid for what I’m trying to accomplish.”

7. “Some people think that I am the devil, but nobody really knows the truth but God and perhaps me.”

8. “You can’t be half a gangster, not anymore.”

9. “Every time I try to build something, it gets taken away from me, and every time it happens it makes my resolve stronger, my vision clearer.”

10. “This city needs to die before it can be reborn.”

Kingpin’s eloquence and philosophical outlook on his role as a crime lord give him depth that is unusual for villains in superhero stories – he sees himself not just as a player in the game, but as an architect reshaping the very world around him.
