Your Facebook Account Was Hacked?

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of Facebook accounts being hacked. It is a frustrating experience, and often leaves users feeling violated and exposed. If your Facebook account has been hacked, it is important to take immediate action to regain control and protect your online identity.

How to know if your Facebook account was hacked?

The first sign that your Facebook account has been hacked is usually that your friends will alert you to suspicious activity on your timeline or in private messages. You may also notice that your password has been changed or that you have been logged out of your account.

Steps to take if your Facebook account was hacked:

Step 1 – Change your password

The first step to take when your Facebook account has been hacked is to change your password immediately. To do this, go to the “Settings” option on the top right corner of the Facebook page and click on “Security and Login.” From there, you can change your password and log out of all logged-in sessions. A strong and unique password should be used and ensure two-factor authentication is enabled.

Step 2 – Review your account activity

Check your Facebook activity log to see if there have been any unauthorized actions on your account. Look for any posts or comments that you did not create, pages or groups you were added to or anything else that seems out of the ordinary. If you see any suspicious activity, report it to Facebook immediately.

Step 3 – Update your security settings

Take the time to review your Facebook security settings and update them if necessary. Limit the number of people who can access your account and remove any apps that are no longer being used.

Step 4 – Report the hack to Facebook

If you have followed the above steps and are still unable to regain control of your Facebook account, report the hack to Facebook. Facebook has a dedicated team that can help you in such scenarios.

Step 5 – Notify your friends and family

One important step is to notify your friends and family on Facebook that your account has been hacked. This is because the hacker may use your account to spread malicious content or scam others.

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
