Xbox One is one of the most popular gaming consoles in the world, with millions of users around the globe. While the device offers an immersive gaming experience, some players have reported issues with the Xbox One controller not working. If you’re dealing with this issue, don’t panic. In this article, we’ll share tips on how to fix your Xbox One controller and get back to your gaming endeavors.

1. Check the Batteries

One of the most common reasons why an Xbox One controller stops working is due to dead batteries. If your controller stops responding, the first thing to do is to check the battery level. If the batteries are low or dead, swap them out for new ones, and see if that fixes the problem.

2. Restart the Console

Sometimes, the Xbox One controller may stop responding due to a problem with the console itself. In such a case, restarting the console can help. To do this, press and hold the power button on the console for ten seconds or more until it shuts down. Wait for a couple of minutes, and then turn it back on. Once the console starts, check if your controller is responding correctly.

3. Disconnect and Reconnect the Controller

Another effective way of fixing an Xbox One controller that isn’t working is to disconnect and reconnect it. To do this, turn off the controller and disconnect it from the console. Wait for a few seconds, and then reconnect it. Once you’ve reconnected the controller, turn it back on, and check if it’s working correctly.

4. Update the Controller Firmware

Updating the controller firmware is another viable option to fix the Xbox One controller not working issue. To update the controller firmware, connect the controller to the console via a USB cable. Once connected, go to Settings, select Devices & Accessories, and then choose the controller. Next, select the “Device Info” option, and then “Update Controller.” Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process.

5. Use a Wired Controller

If none of the above-mentioned tips seems to work, consider using a wired controller instead. Wired controllers connect directly to the console via a USB cable, eliminating any wireless connectivity issues. It’s also worth noting that some Xbox One games require the use of a wired controller.
