X is nerfing the block button: Blocked users will be able to see your posts

In a move that has left many users bewildered and concerned, X (formerly Twitter) is reportedly nerfing its block button. This means blocked users will now be able to see your posts, a drastic change that significantly undermines user privacy and safety.

The rationale behind this decision remains unclear, but it comes at a time when X is already facing criticism for its handling of harassment and misinformation. Many users rely on the block button as a vital tool to manage online interactions, especially when dealing with abusive or unwanted content. This change effectively removes a crucial layer of protection, leaving users vulnerable to harassment and unwelcome interactions.

The implications are far-reaching. Users who rely on the block button to escape bullying, stalking, or unwanted attention are now left with significantly fewer options. It also undermines the platform’s efforts to promote a safe and respectful environment for all users.

This decision has sparked outrage and concern among the user base. Many are questioning the platform’s commitment to user safety and privacy. Some have even threatened to leave the platform in protest. It remains to be seen whether X will back down or continue with this controversial change. But one thing is clear: this decision has the potential to negatively impact user experience and create a more hostile environment on the platform.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
