What’s the Difference Between Facebook Friends and Followers?

Social media has drastically changed the way people interact with each other. Facebook is one of the most popular social media platforms with over 2.7 billion monthly active users. It allows users to connect with each other, share content, and stay updated on what their friends and family are doing. However, there are two types of connections on Facebook: friends and followers. Here’s what you need to know about the difference between the two.

Facebook Friends

Facebook friends are people you have a personal relationship with. You can connect with them by sending a friend request, and if they accept it, you become friends on Facebook. Once you’re friends on Facebook, you have access to each other’s timelines, and you can see each other’s posts, photos, and updates.

You can also interact with your friends on Facebook. You can like, comment, and share their posts, and you can send them private messages. You can also tag your friends in posts and photos.

However, Facebook friends also have access to your profile and activity on the platform. They can see your posts, photos, and updates, and they can interact with them. It’s essential to be careful about who you add as a friend on Facebook, as you’re giving them access to your personal information.

Facebook Followers

Facebook followers, on the other hand, are people who have subscribed to your public updates. When someone follows you on Facebook, they can see your public posts and updates, but they don’t have access to your personal information and activity on the platform.

You don’t have to accept a follower request like you do with friends; instead, people can follow you if they find your content interesting or want to stay updated on your activities. You can also limit who can follow you on Facebook, as you can adjust your follower settings to allow only friends or specific people to follow you.

When someone follows you on Facebook, they can interact with your posts by liking, commenting, and sharing them. However, you can’t see who’s following you on Facebook, and you can’t interact with your followers in the same way you interact with friends.

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
