Windows 10 is a highly popular and widely-used operating system. One of the reasons for its popularity is the user-friendly interface and a comprehensive range of settings that are highly customizable. However, what can you do when you encounter issues with Windows 10 settings not working? Sometimes the problem can be a minor one, but at times it can be more complex.

Here are some simple steps to follow when you face problems with Windows 10 settings:

1. Restart your computer

The first thing you should do is to restart your computer. It might seem like a simple solution, but sometimes it can work wonders. When you restart your PC, it will clear the memory and fix minor issues that might be causing Windows 10 settings not working.

2. Check for updates

Windows 10 continually rolls out updates for users, and sometimes these updates might fix bugs and errors that could be causing the problem. To check for updates, follow the below steps:

1. Click on the Start button

2. Go to Settings –> Update & Security –> Windows Update

3. Click on Check for updates

If there are any updates available, download and install them, and then check if the problem has resolved.

3. Run the troubleshooter

Windows 10 comes equipped with a built-in troubleshooter that can help detect and fix most problems related to settings. To run the troubleshooter, follow the below steps:

1. Click on the Start button

2. Go to Settings –> Update & Security –> Troubleshoot

3. Click on Additional troubleshooters and select the relevant troubleshooter.

4. Restore Default Settings

Another way to resolve the problem is to restore default settings. Restoring default settings is a straightforward process that resets everything to the original settings.

To restore the default settings, follow the below steps:

1. Click on the Start button

2. Go to Settings –> Update & Security –> Recovery

3. Under Reset this PC, click on Get started

4. Follow the prompts to restore the default settings.

5. Create a new user account

If the above steps do not solve the problem, creating a new user account might fix the issue. To create a new user account, follow the below steps:

1. Click on the Start button

2. Go to Settings –> Accounts

3. Click on Family & other users, then select Add someone else to this PC

4. Provide the necessary information to create the new user account.

In Conclusion

Windows 10 settings not working can be frustrating, but there are solutions to the problem. The above steps should help you resolve the issue, but if the problem persists, you can always contact Microsoft support for assistance. Remember to back up your data before attempting any of these solutions, as they might cause some data loss.
