Roll20 is a virtual tabletop that brings players together from all over the world. This online tool is specially designed to allow players to create, manage and play games from anywhere in the world without the need for physical gathering.

In this age of technology, it has become increasingly difficult and sometimes impossible to gather together in one place to play games like Dungeons and Dragons or other popular tabletop games. Roll20 has provided a solution for those who want to stay connected with their gaming communities regardless of distance or time constraints.

One of the greatest things about Roll20 is its versatility. The platform allows players to create custom maps and share them with the rest of the group. Each player also has a virtual player sheet, which can keep track of the character’s attributes and be updated by the GM or game master.

A game master (GM) creates the game’s story and controls non-playing characters while the players interact with the world and the story by describing their actions. Roll20 also presents a unique opportunity for GM’s to create their in-game music playlists that can help set the tone for different areas or events in the game.

Roll20 simplifies the process of rolling dice, which is an essential part of tabletop gaming. The platform has virtual dice that are easily accessible, and players can customize their dice rolls with different colors and textures.

Roll20 also comes with built-in video and audio chat capability, which allows players to communicate with each other while playing. This feature helps eliminate miscommunications that would have otherwise occurred due to the lack of facial expressions and body language.

Finally, Roll20 has an extensive community of users that provide various resources like custom map creations, character sheets, and more. The platform has made it feasible for users to create and share their resources with others easily. The community also includes forums where users can ask questions and discuss issues related to running games.

In conclusion, Roll20 is an excellent platform that offers flexibility, customization, and the ability to connect with gamers worldwide. Whether one wants to play with old friends or meet new ones, Roll20 has got you covered. With its easy-to-use interface and community support, anyone, regardless of skill level, can enjoy this marvelous tool.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
