What Does a Highlighted Comment Mean on YouTube?

If you are a frequent user of YouTube, you may have come across highlighted comments on a video. These comments seem to stand out from the rest of the comments, and you may be wondering why that is. In this article, we will explore what a highlighted comment means on YouTube.

A highlighted comment is a comment that has been selected by the video’s creator, a moderator, or YouTube algorithms to appear at the top of the comments section. This is done for various reasons, such as the comment being particularly insightful, useful, or entertaining. Highlighted comments are easily noticeable because they are featured prominently at the top of the comments section and are usually highlighted in a different color.

Creators and moderators can select a comment to highlight manually by clicking on the three dots next to the comment and selecting “Pin.” This automatically moves the comment to the top of the comments section, making it the first comment that users see. Highlighted comments can also be selected by YouTube algorithms based on factors such as relevance, engagement, and activity.

Highlighted comments are a way for content creators to engage with their audience and promote meaningful discussion. They can also be used to highlight positive feedback or address frequently asked questions. For example, a creator can highlight a comment that offers suggestions for improving their content or addresses an issue raised by viewers.

Highlighted comments are not to be confused with sponsored comments or paid promotions. These types of comments are designed to promote a product or service and are usually marked as “sponsored” or “paid promotion.”

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
