As the holiday season approaches, the top news story in the Weirton–Steubenville, WV-OH Metro Area revolves around the community’s enthusiastic efforts to decorate for Christmas. Volunteers from both cities have come together to transform their streets, parks, and public spaces into winter wonderlands.

The initiative, dubbed “Decking the Cities,” has seen an unprecedented level of participation from residents of all ages. Local businesses have also joined in, offering supplies and refreshments to the hardworking volunteers. The decorations range from traditional string lights and wreaths to elaborate displays featuring local themes and history.

City officials from both Weirton and Steubenville have praised the community spirit on display, noting that the collaborative effort has not only beautified the area but also strengthened the bond between the two cities. The decorating process is expected to continue throughout the week, with a grand lighting ceremony planned for the following weekend.

This heartwarming story of community involvement and holiday cheer serves as a bright spot in what has been a challenging year for many. The “Decking the Cities” initiative is set to become an annual tradition, fostering a sense of unity and celebration in the Weirton–Steubenville metro area for years to come.
