Ways you can use Apple’s AirTag with an Android phone

Apple’s AirTag, a small, coin-shaped device that generates convenience in your life by helping you keep track of your belongings, was initially designed to work exclusively with iPhones. However, Android users need not miss out on this useful gadget as there are ways to use AirTags with their non-Apple devices.

1. Download and Use a Third-Party App

Android users can use third-party apps like AirTag Locator or TrackerDetect that allow them to connect to an AirTag using their Bluetooth connection. These apps can display the approximate location of your AirTags, provide notifications when within range, and trigger the “Find” feature if needed.

2. Using an NFC-Enabled Android Device

Many Android phones have built-in NFC capabilities which allow you to use it with an AirTag. Simply hold your Android phone close to the AirTag, and your phone will recognize it as an NFC tag. This enables you to access additional information about the AirTag, such as its owner’s contact information if it has been marked as lost.

3. Share Access with Apple Users

If you have friends or family members who own iPhones, you may share your AirTag access with them by adding their Apple IDs to your devices list within the Find My app. This will allow them to help track and locate your belongings using their iPhones.

4. Utilize Online Lost and Found Platforms

Should you lose an AirTag-attached item while using Android, you can report it as lost on online platforms like Lostify or FoundAPI. These platforms connect users who find lost items with their respective owners based on the unique identifier associated with each AirTag.

5. Employ Web-based Tracking Tools

For Android users who want to access more advanced tracking features without downloading third-party apps, web-based tracking tools like Airtag.is or NearbEMI offer user-friendly interfaces to interact with AirTags using a smartphone browser. These websites display information like distance and signal strength, which may assist in locating an AirTag.

While Apple’s AirTags were initially designed for use within the Apple ecosystem, Android users can still find ways to incorporate this handy accessory into their lives. By exploring the options mentioned above, Android users can experience the benefits of AirTags and gain peace of mind knowing that their valuables are tracked and secure.
