If you’re a Windows 10 user, you might have come across the WDF_VIOLATION error message while trying to perform a task. It’s a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error that can be quite frustrating as it tends to crash your system, forcing you to reboot your device.

But what exactly is WDF_VIOLATION error, and how can you fix it? Here are some ways to resolve this issue on your Windows 10 device.

What is the WDF_VIOLATION Error?

The WDF_VIOLATION error is an error code that indicates that the Windows Driver Framework (WDF) has detected a violation or error in one of its drivers. It might be due to outdated drivers, corrupted system files or some other hardware-related issue.

How to Fix the WDF_VIOLATION Error on Windows 10?

There are several ways you can fix the WDF_VIOLATION error on your Windows 10 device. Here are some of the most effective solutions:

Solution 1: Update Your Drivers

The first thing you should do is check whether your drivers are up-to-date. If they’re not, you may encounter the WDF_VIOLATION error. To update your drivers, follow these steps:

Step 1: Press Windows key + X and select ‘Device Manager’ from the menu.

Step 2: Look for any chevrons before your devices and double click on them.

Step 3: Right-click the device in question and then click ‘Update driver.’

Step 4: Once you’ve installed the updates, restart your device.

Solution 2: Run a CHKDSK Scan

Another way to repair the WDF_VIOLATION error is to run a CHKDSK scan. CHKDSK is a helpful tool that can detect and fix any possible issues with your hard drive. To perform a CHKDSK scan, follow these steps:

Step 1: Press Windows key + X and select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ from the menu.

Step 2: Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.

Step 3: Wait for the scan to complete and then reboot your device.

Solution 3: Run SFC to Scan and Repair System Files

The WDF_VIOLATION error can also be caused by corrupted system files. In this case, running an SFC scan can help. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Press Windows key + X and select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ from the menu.

Step 2: Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

Step 3: Wait for the scan to complete and then reboot your device.

Solution 4: Reinstall Windows 10

If none of these solutions works, it might be best to reinstall Windows 10 on your device. This should help resolve any major issues with your system and drivers.

To reinstall Windows 10, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and select ‘Settings’ from the options.

Step 2: Click on ‘Update & Security.’

Step 3: Click on ‘Recovery’ and select ‘Reset this PC.’

Step 4: Follow the instructions on your screen and select ‘Remove everything.’
