Ways to Fix Keyboard Shortcuts Not Working in Windows 10

Keyboard shortcuts are really helpful when you are working on your Windows 10 device. It saves you a lot of time and effort. However, at times, these shortcuts stop working, causing frustration to users.

If you are facing Keyboard Shortcuts not working issue, you do not need to panic. There are a few ways to fix this problem. In this article, we will talk about those fixes.

  1. Restart Your Device:

Sometimes restarting your device is all it takes to fix Keyboard Shortcuts not working problem. Turn off your device and then turn it on again. This might fix the issue.

  1. Use the On-Screen Keyboard:

If your keyboard is not working and you need to access your device, then you can use the On-Screen Keyboard. Go to the Start menu and search for On-Screen Keyboard. Alternatively, you can press ‘Windows + R’ key and type ‘osk’ then hit ‘Enter’. The On-Screen Keyboard should solve your problem for the time being.

  1. Update Your Keyboard Driver

If your keyboard driver is outdated or corrupted, then Keyboard Shortcuts might not work. To update your keyboard driver, go to the Device Manager and look for the Keyboard option. Right-click on the keyboard and select ‘Update Driver’. Follow the instructions given to you by the system.

  1. Disable Sticky Keys:

Sticky Keys is a Windows feature that helps you to use keyboard shortcuts one key at a time. Sometimes, it becomes the reason why keyboard shortcuts do not work. To disable Sticky Keys, go to the Start menu and select ‘Settings’. Then click on ‘Ease of Access’ and select ‘Keyboard.’ Turn off the ‘Sticky Keys’ feature.

  1. Check Language Settings:

If your keyboard layout is different, then Keyboard Shortcuts might not work. To check your language settings, go to the Start menu and select ‘Settings.’ Then click on ‘Time & Language’ and select ‘Region & Language’. Check if the language is set to the right option.

  1. Check Accessibility Settings:

If you are using features like ‘Filter Keys’ or ‘Toggle Keys,’ then Keyboard Shortcuts might not work. To check your Accessibility Settings, go to the Start menu and select ‘Settings.’ Then click on ‘Ease of Access’ and check if any option is turned on.

  1. Run a System File Check:

Sometimes, missing or corrupted system files also cause Keyboard Shortcuts not working problem. To run a System File Check, press ‘Windows + X’ key and select ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’. Type ‘sfc/scannow’ and press ‘Enter’. The process may take some time to complete.
