There are many reasons why the Print Screen function in Windows might stop working. For instance, a software update could have caused a bug, or the system could be experiencing a technical issue. If you’re having trouble taking screenshots of your desktop, here are some solutions to fix it.

Check Your Keyboard: The first thing to do is to ensure that your keyboard is functioning as expected. Sometimes, a single key may not work correctly, making it challenging to take a screenshot. That’s why it’s important to test each key to ensure that everything works.

Restart Your Computer: Restarting your computer is a quick way to fix any software-related issues that may be responsible for your Print Screen problem.

Try Another Keyboard: Borrow a keyboard from a friend or office mate and test your screenshots again. If your Print Screen function works, then your original keyboard may need to be replaced.

Check Your Keyboard Settings: If you have made changes to your keyboard settings, it’s possible that this may have caused your Print Screen function to stop working. Check your settings to confirm that the Print Screen key is still assigned to its default function.

Use Microsoft’s Snipping Tool: Microsoft’s Snipping Tool is an excellent alternative to the Print Screen function. The tool allows you to capture screenshots, draw on the image, and save or share it.

Try Another Screenshot Tool: There are many alternative screenshot tools available, such as Greenshot, ShareX, and Lightshot. Download one and see if it works when the Print Screen function doesn’t.

Check Your System Settings: Make sure that your display settings are not preventing you from taking screenshots. Windows 10, for instance, has a game mode that can prevent screenshots when activated.

Run System Troubleshooter: Run the system troubleshooter to diagnose and fix any issues that may be stopping Print Screen from working.

Update Your System: Check for updates. Installing an update may resolve the Print Screen issue.

Check Your Installed Apps: Some installed apps could be interfering with the Print Screen function. Open the task manager and check which app is running in the background.

Run A Malware Scan: Malware could be affecting your Print Screen function. Run a malware scan and remove any detected threats.

Update Your Video Driver: Your video driver may need updating. Go to the manufacturer’s site, download and install any recent driver updates.

Disable Non-Microsoft Services: Some third-party services could be affecting your Print Screen function. Disable them and check if the function has been restored.

Disable Third Party Antivirus: Third-party antivirus can cause problems with the Print Screen function. Disable it temporarily and test your keyboard.

Try Another User Account: Login with another user account on your PC to see if the problem is account related.

Check Your Hardware: If all else fails, check your hardware, specifically the keyboard wiring. It’s possible that a wire could be loose or damaged.

In conclusion, these solutions should help resolve issues with Print Screen not working in Windows. If the problem persists, get in touch with a qualified technician to help diagnose and fix the issue.
