Ways to Customize the Windows 11 Taskbar
With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has introduced several new features and improvements to the operating system’s user interface. Among these changes is a revamped taskbar that offers more customization options than ever before. Here are some of the different ways you can customize your Windows 11 taskbar to make it suit your preferences.
1. Change the appearance
One of the most obvious ways to customize your taskbar is by changing its appearance. Windows 11 lets you choose between different taskbar styles, including centered, left-aligned, and right-aligned. You can also change the taskbar’s color, transparency, and more by going to Settings > Personalization > Colors.
2. Pin apps
Pinning your favorite apps to the taskbar allows you to quickly access them with a single click. To do this, simply right-click on the app icon in the Start menu and select “Pin to taskbar.” You can also drag and drop app icons directly onto the taskbar to add them.
3. Rearrange icons
If you’ve pinned several apps to your taskbar, you can rearrange the icons to your preference. To do this, just click and drag an app icon to a different position on the taskbar. You can also reorder icons by right-clicking on an empty space in the taskbar and selecting “Taskbar settings.”
4. Customize taskbar buttons
Windows 11 lets you choose what happens when you click on taskbar buttons. To customize this, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar and select “Taskbar behaviors.” Here, you can choose between different options for your taskbar buttons, such as showing thumbnails or simply highlighting the button when the app is open.
5. Use taskbar shortcuts
You can add shortcuts to your taskbar for quicker access to certain functions, such as opening File Explorer or launching the Settings app. To do this, simply right-click on the desktop icon for the function you want to shortcut, select “Pin to taskbar,” and it will appear on your taskbar.
6. Show or hide taskbar
If you’d like more screen space, you can choose to hide your taskbar. To do this, right-click on an empty space in the taskbar and select “Taskbar settings.” Here, toggle on the “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” option.
Customizing your Windows 11 taskbar allows you to streamline your workflow and create an interface that works for you. These are just a few of the ways you can customize your taskbar, but there are many other options to explore within the operating system.
