The Pros and Cons of Subscribing to Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade, the multi-platform subscription-based gaming service, has been gaining popularity since its debut in September 2019. With over 180 games in its library, Apple Arcade offers a wide variety of games for all ages and interests. However, with every subscription-based service, there are pros and cons to consider before subscribing. In this article, we’ll take a deeper look into the pros and cons of subscribing to Apple Arcade.

Pros:

1. High-Quality Games: Apple Arcade offers exclusive access to an extensive library of high-quality games, many of which are not available on other gaming platforms. The games are carefully curated and designed to be played on multiple platforms, including iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs and Macs.

2. Ad-Free Experience: Unlike many other gaming platforms, Apple Arcade games do not have any in-app advertising or microtransactions. This means that users can fully immerse themselves in the game without being interrupted by unwanted advertisements.

3. Family Sharing: Apple Arcade allows up to six family members to share a single subscription, which means each family member can have their own customized gaming experience. This feature makes it a cost-effective option for families who love spending time on gaming.

4. No Internet Connection Required: Many Apple Arcade games do not require an internet connection to play, allowing users to enjoy games anywhere and anytime without worrying about connectivity issues.

5. Privacy: Apple has a reputation for their commitment to privacy, and with Apple Arcade, it’s no different. The company claims that user data is not shared with third parties, making it a safer choice compared to other gaming platforms.

Cons:

1. Limited Gaming Library: While Apple Arcade has a vast collection of games, it is still limited compared to other gaming platforms like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Now. It may not be the best option for gamers who are looking for specific types of games.

2. No Free Trial: Unlike many other subscription-based gaming services, Apple Arcade doesn’t offer a free trial for its service. This means that users have to subscribe and pay a monthly fee right away without any chance of testing the service beforehand.

3. Exclusive to Apple Devices: Apple Arcade is exclusive to Apple devices, which means it’s not available to users who prefer other platforms like Android or Windows. This limits its userbase and accessibility.

4. Small Gaming Community: Because Apple Arcade is still a relatively new service, the gaming community is still relatively small. It may be challenging for players to connect with other players and build a community.

5. Price: While Apple Arcade is relatively cheap compared to other gaming subscriptions, it’s still a monthly expense. Users who don’t play frequently may find the subscription service unnecessary.

In conclusion, Apple Arcade offers an extensive library of high-quality games with a more intimate gaming experience. However, it is limited to Apple devices and may not have the variety that some gamers are looking for. For those who want a premium gaming experience on their Apple devices, Apple Arcade is a great option. But for gamers who prefer other platforms or who don’t want to spend a monthly fee, other gaming services might be a better fit.
