According to Peloton’s star instructor Cody Rigsby, the best types of exercise may vary depending on your mood. Here are his insights on how to choose the right workout to match how you’re feeling:

Feeling Stressed or Angry**: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

When emotions run high, Cody suggests channeling that energy into a HIIT session. The intense bursts of activity can act as an outlet for frustration, helping to clear your mind and reduce stress.

Feeling Happy and Energetic: Dance Cardio

On days when you’re feeling upbeat and full of energy, Cody recommends a dance cardio class. It’s a fun way to maintain the positivity while getting a great, full-body workout.

Feeling Sad or Low: Yoga

For those times when you’re feeling down, yoga can be incredibly therapeutic. Cody advises turning to yoga for its mood-boosting benefits and the way it connects your body with your breath.

Feeling Unmotivated: Rhythmic Cycling

Rigsby points out that on days when motivation is lacking, a rhythmic cycling class can offer just the right mix of music and movement to get you going. The communal feeling of a group ride can also provide a motivational boost.

Feeling Reflective or Meditative: Pilates

When in a more contemplative state of mind, Pilates can offer the perfect pace. According to Cody, it allows for reflection while engaging in mindful movements that focus on core strength and flexibility.

Always consult with a fitness professional before beginning any new exercise program. Cody Rigsby’s recommendations provide guidance on how to align your workouts with your mood, aiming not just for physical fitness but also emotional well-being.
