Spread the love

Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country is the quaint town of Blanco, known not only for its scenic vistas but also its welcoming, small-town charm. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or seeking a peaceful retreat from city life, Blanco offers a variety of activities to delight every visitor.

Experience the Lavender Fields

One of Blanco’s most aromatic attractions is its beautiful lavender fields. The annual Blanco Lavender Festival celebrates these purple-hued blooms with tours, markets, and plenty of opportunities for visitors to pick their own lavender or purchase all sorts of lavender-infused products.

Explore Blanco State Park

Outdoor lovers will find plenty to do at Blanco State Park. The park wraps around a mile-long stretch of the Blanco River and offers activities such as swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Shaded picnic spots and hiking trails ensure that you can easily make a day of exploring this natural sanctuary.

Visit the Historic Courthouse Square

The Historic Old Blanco County Courthouse stands proudly in the town square, surrounded by green lawns and majestic oaks. This Second Empire-style building was constructed in 1885 and has been beautifully restored. Visitors can immerse themselves in local history or browse through unique shops and art galleries nearby.

Sip Local Wines at a Hill Country Winery

Blanco is part of Texas Wine Country, and no trip would be complete without visiting one of the region’s wineries. You’ll find tastings that showcase local varietals along with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. It’s a perfect way to unwind after a day’s adventures.

Enjoy Fresh Fare at Redbud Café

For those who appreciate good food, Redbud Café offers locally sourced, homemade dishes that embody the spirit of Hill Country cuisine. From soups and sandwiches to hearty entrees and delicious desserts, there’s something on the menu for everyone.

Attend Market Day on the Square

On the third Saturday of each month, Market Day breathes extra life into downtown Blanco as vendors set up around the courthouse to sell everything from handmade jewelry to woodworking crafts to homemade jams. It’s a delightful occasion that captures the spirit of community and craftsmanship.

Stroll Along The Pecan Street Nature Trail

Visitors seeking solace in nature should not miss The Pecan Street Nature Trail. This easy trail meanders alongside the river under a canopy of pecan trees and is an ideal spot for bird-watching or simply enjoying a tranquil moment away from it all.

Blanco may be small in size but it is big in heart and activities. Whether it’s indulging in local flavors, soaking in natural beauty, or delving into history, there’s no shortage of best things to do in this beautiful Hill Country town.
