The best places to see wildlife around the world, according to the people behind Planet Earth III

Touring the globe in search of breathtaking wildlife spectacles is a pastime for many nature enthusiasts, and few have more expertise in identifying the most enthralling destinations than the team behind the acclaimed documentary series, Planet Earth III. After extensive research and countless hours of filming in some of the most remote and pristine environments on our planet, they have shared their top picks for places where wildlife thrives and can be observed in its natural habitat.

One of the ultimate experiences is a journey to the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. This archipelago’s unique location at the confluence of three ocean currents makes it a melting pot for marine life. Witnessing the giant Galápagos tortoise in its natural environment, alongside marine iguanas basking on volcanic rocks, offers insight into evolution itself.

Another recommendation by the crew is the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Famous for the Great Migration, this spectacle involves millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles traversing through crocodile-infested waters and predator-laden plains. It’s a dynamic display of survival and endurance that provides unparalleled photographic opportunities.

Moving to colder climates, the team advises wildlife lovers should not miss Svalbard, Norway. In this Arctic wonderland, polar bears roam the ice floes while walruses lounge on chilly beaches. It’s one of the few places in the world where such majestic creatures can be seen in their icy realm.

For those fascinated by primates, Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is a must-visit destination. Home to some of the last remaining mountain gorillas on Earth, nothing compares to the humbling experience of observing these gentle giants at close quarters amidst mist-covered mountains.

From diving with whale sharks off the coast of Mexico to watching orangutans swing through Borneo’s rainforests or catching sight of Bengal tigers silently padding through India’s Bandhavgarh National Park—the list provided by Planet Earth III’s team underlines nature’s diversity and beauty across all continents.

These locations offer not just mere glimpses but full-immersion experiences into worlds where wildlife reigns supreme. For any true nature enthusiast or photographer seeking that once-in-a-lifetime encounter, following in Planet Earth III’s footsteps is sure to lead you to some of the best wildlife viewing our planet has to offer.
