The Best of Atlanta: Historical Landmarks
- Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park
- This park is dedicated to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It includes his childhood home, the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he preached, and his final resting place. The visitor center offers exhibits that provide insight into the Civil Rights Movement.
- Atlanta History Center
- Located in the Buckhead district, the Atlanta History Center features extensive exhibits on the history of Atlanta and the South. The center includes the Swan House, a beautifully preserved mansion, and the Smith Family Farm, which offers a glimpse into 19th-century farm life.
- Oakland Cemetery
- Established in 1850, Oakland Cemetery is one of Atlanta’s oldest landmarks. It is the final resting place of many notable figures, including Margaret Mitchell, author of “Gone with the Wind.” The cemetery also offers beautiful gardens and stunning views of the city skyline.
