The Best Airport Snacks To Pack Ahead Of Time, According To Nutritionists

With so many travelers focusing on healthy eating, packing the right snacks for a flight can make all the difference. Here are some of the best airport snacks to pack ahead of time, according to nutritionists.

Firstly, raw nuts and seeds make an excellent snack as they are high in protein and healthy fats, which keep you feeling full longer. Opt for almonds, walnuts, or a mixed bag but avoid ones with added salt or sugar.

Dried fruit is another good option due to its long shelf life and nutritional value. However, since dried fruits are high in natural sugars and calories, portion control is key. Look for unsweetened varieties like dried apples, apricots, or dates.

Jerky is a portable protein source that’s perfect for travel. Choose jerky from grass-fed animals without added sugars or preservatives when possible. An array of options including beef, turkey, or even vegan jerky are available now.

Whole-grain crackers paired with nut butter provide a good balance of carbs and protein. For easy travel, portion out some nut butter using a small container or look for single-serving packets.

Nutrition bars can be a convenient snack if you pick the right ones. Aim for bars with whole food ingredients, low added sugar, and at least 5 grams of protein. Bars that include nuts, seeds, and whole grains are typically a good choice.

Finally, fresh fruit such as apples or bananas that don’t require refrigeration can be a great option too. They’re packed with vitamins and fiber which can aid digestion – often disrupted by travel.

Remember hydration is also key – bringing along a refillable water bottle will help you stay hydrated without needing to buy overpriced airport water.

By considering these nutritionist-recommended snacks, travelers can maintain their health goals and avoid less nutritious impulse buys at the airport. Happy snacking!
