The BEST Air Fryer Filet Mignon (Tender & Juicy)

Filet mignon is revered by meat lovers for its tenderness and flavor, which can be further enhanced by using an air fryer to achieve delicious results. Air frying is a method that circulates hot air around the food, producing a crispy layer while keeping the inside succulent. This healthier cooking technique reduces the need for excessive oil, ensuring your filet mignon is not only tasty but also better for your well-being.

When aiming for the best air fryer filet mignon, it’s all about precision. Here’s a method that has been fine-tuned to ensure your filet mignon comes out tender and juicy every single time:

Ingredients:

– 2 filet mignon steaks (about 1.5 inches thick)

– Salt and freshly ground black pepper

– 2 tablespoons of olive oil or melted butter

– Optional: garlic powder and fresh herbs (like thyme or rosemary) for additional flavoring

Instructions:

1. Take your filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes before cooking. This step is crucial for cooking the steak evenly.

2. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). This preheating stage ensures that your steak will start cooking immediately and get a nice sear.

3. Season your steaks generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides. If you choose to add more flavor, now is when you’d sprinkle on garlic powder or press fresh herbs onto the surface.

4. Lightly brush each steak with olive oil or melted butter. The oil helps to conduct heat more evenly across the surface and adds a rich texture.

5. Once preheated, place the filet mignons in the air fryer basket so they’re not touching, ensuring even airflow around each steak.

6. For medium-rare steaks, cook for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time to ensure an even crust forms on both sides.

7. If preferred medium, extend the cooking time to 12-14 minutes, still flipping halfway through.

8. Use a meat thermometer to check if your steaks have reached the desired internal temperature: 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare or 140°F (60°C)for medium.

9. Once cooked to perfection, let your filet mignons rest on a plate covered loosely with foil for about 5-10 minutes before serving. Resting allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat ensuring each bite is as juicy as possible.

10. Serve immediately after resting, optionally drizzling with any accumulated juices from the resting plate over the top.

By following these steps, you should be able to enjoy what could possibly be described as THE BEST air fryer filet mignon you’ve ever had – tender on the inside with a beautifully cooked exterior that’s bursting with flavor!
