The last decade has witnessed a resurgence of the undead in popular culture, with zombie horror movies leading the charge. From comedic to straight terrifying, from indie to blockbuster, here is a list of the 10 best zombie horror movies from the 2010s.

1. Train to Busan (2016)

A high-speed train is overrun by zombies, sculpting non-stop action and heart-pounding scenes. It’s not just about the horror; it’s an emotional journey of a father and daughter trying to survive amidst chaos.

2. World War Z (2013)

This big-budget spectacle starring Brad Pitt takes viewers around a world besieged by fast-moving hordes of zombies, offering a blend of intense action and unnerving suspense.

3. The Girl with All the Gifts (2016)

In this British post-apocalyptic scenario, humanity’s only hope may lie in a young girl who’s part-zombie, challenging our perceptions of these creatures with its unique storyline.

4. Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)

Combining humor with horror, this sequel arrives with the same beloved characters battling evolved zombies and meeting new survivors; it’s as much about laughs as it is about scares.

5. Warm Bodies (2013)

A romantic twist on the genre, a zombie forms an unlikely relationship with a human girl, sparking a chain of events that could transform the entire lifeless world.

6. Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead (2014)

This Australian film offers an inventive take on the genre with mad scientists and biomechanical zombies. Mixing black humor and gore makes it a cult favorite.

7. Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (2014)

This Norwegian film doubles down on the first installment’s black humor and ridiculous premise of Nazi zombies, now bringing in an equally undead Soviet army for an outrageous conflict.

8. The Cured (2017)

Focusing on social commentary, this film addresses what happens when infected people are cured and attempts to reintegrate into society that still fears them.

9. Cargo (2017)

A quieter take on zombie films that follows a father in Australia who struggles to find someone willing to protect his infant daughter after he becomes infected.

10. Overlord (2018)

Blending war movie elements with zombie horror, this film is set during World War II where American soldiers discover horrific Nazi experiments creating monstrous soldiers.

These films represent modern twists on the enduring appeal of zombie stories in cinema and continue to capture audiences with their creative takes on survival in apocalyptic conditions.
