Stop Taking Live Photos on iPhone

Apple has brought in a lot of incredible features in its products, and one of them is the “Live Photos” feature. Introduced in iOS 9, live photos have brought life into our still photos by capturing 1.5 seconds of motion and sound before and after pressing the shutter button on the iPhone’s camera. As amazing as this feature is, it can be a bit of an irritant to some people. While live photos are great for some, they can be a nuisance to others.

In this article, we will discuss some reasons why you should consider turning off the live photos feature on your iPhone.

Live Photos Take Up A Lot Of Storage Space:

When you take a live photo, iPhone saves two files instead of one. One is a standard still image, while the other is a 3-second video. The video saved is a high-quality file that takes up almost twice the space compared to a standard still image. With this, it’s easy to see how live photos can start taking up quite a bit of storage on your iPhone.

Live Photos Can Be Distracting:

While taking photos, the sound of the shutter button is, at times, enough to make people start posing. However, with live photos, this is different as it can be distracting. Often, the camera’s mechanism will make different sounds as it records the picture, making people start to move or change their expressions, leading to imperfect pictures.

Live Photos Can Be Embarrassing:

Live photos capture 1.5 seconds of motion and sound. While this is great for a family vacation, what happens when you’re clicking photos with strangers around you? You could easily capture something that was meant to be private or embarrassing, leading to quite an uncomfortable situation.

Disabling The Live Photos Feature Is Easy:

Turning off the live photos feature is easy as pie. Launch your camera and click on the yellow circle with the three circles. This will open up the options, and you can click ‘off’ on the live photos setting. Turning it back on only requires following the same procedure.

Conclusion

The bottom line is, live photos are a great feature that Apple has brought to the iPhone. However, they are not always everyone’s cup of tea. They can be distracting, take up unnecessary storage, and capture private or embarrassing moments. Therefore, it’s essential to consider disabling the live photos feature as it’s easily done and quickly reverted to default.
