Steph Curry’s Double BANG! Thriller: Warriors’ Comeback vs. Lakers

In a game that will be remembered as an instant classic, the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers delivered a Christmas Day thriller that had fans on the edge of their seats. Despite a heroic effort from Stephen Curry, punctuated by a rare double “BANG!” call from legendary announcer Mike Breen, the Warriors ultimately fell short in their comeback bid.

The game seemed out of reach for the Warriors, who trailed by 20 points in the third quarter. However, led by Curry’s otherworldly shooting, Golden State mounted a furious comeback. The climax came in the final minute when Curry hit back-to-back three-pointers, the second of which tied the game and elicited Breen’s iconic double “BANG!” call.

Breen, known for his enthusiastic “BANG!” exclamations during big moments, rarely uses the double “BANG!” – reserving it for the most extraordinary plays. This moment marked only the third time in his career that he’s used the double call for Curry, underscoring the magnitude of the shot.

The Warriors’ comeback electrified the crowd and seemed to shift momentum entirely in their favor. However, the Lakers, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, showed their championship mettle by regrouping and closing out the game in the final seconds.

James, who finished with a triple-double, praised Curry’s performance while expressing relief at the win. “Steph is unbelievable. Those shots he hit – I mean, what can you do? But I’m proud of how our team stayed composed and finished the job.”

Curry, despite the loss, remained positive about his team’s resilience. “We showed a lot of heart tonight. Obviously, you want to win, especially in a game like this, but the fight we showed is something we can build on.”

The game has reignited discussions about the Warriors’ competitiveness in a loaded Western Conference. While questions remain about their consistency, performances like this remind the league that Golden State can never be counted out when Curry is on the floor.

As the NBA season progresses, this Christmas Day classic will likely be remembered as one of the year’s best games, showcasing the league’s star power and the enduring magic of holiday basketball.
