Sfc Command, also known as System File Checker, is a command-line utility tool in Windows operating systems that scans and repairs corrupted system files automatically. This tool is helpful in fixing various errors on your computer caused by corrupted Windows operating system files.

The Sfc Command tool scans and verifies the system files on your computer against the versions stored in a registry component called the “Windows File Protection” (WFP). Sfc checks the integrity of every system file and replaces or repairs any files that are missing or corrupted. The WFP registry component stores a backup copy of every critical system file on your computer, which the Sfc Command tool uses to restore any damaged files.

Here’s how to use the Sfc Command:

Step 1: Open a Command Prompt window. To do this, type “cmd” in the Start menu search box, right-click on the Command Prompt app, and select Run as Administrator.

Step 2: To run the Sfc Command tool, type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter. This will start the tool to scan your computer for corrupted system files. It may take a few minutes to complete the scan.

Step 3: Once the scan is complete, the Sfc tool will either repair the system files automatically or prompt you to enter an installation disk if any files are missing or corrupted.

If Sfc Command fixes corrupted files, it creates a log file known as CBS.log, located in the Windows\Logs\CBS folder.

When to use Sfc Command?

Sfc Command is primarily used when your computer experiences some system files errors. You might encounter these issues when you’re trying to install software, update programs or Windows updates, or even run some apps on your computer. Running the Sfc tool is an easy and fast way to resolve the problem when the issue stems from a corrupted system file.

In summary, the Sfc Command tool is an essential tool in keeping your Windows operating system functions correctly. It is essential to run this tool periodically to maintain the integrity of your system files continually. The Sfc tool is also helpful when you’re trying to debug system issues, particularly when you suspect some problems might be related to corrupted system files. The tool can help you save time and energy by fixing things quickly and efficiently.
