Introduction:
On November 18, 2024, the Dalton Municipal Airport announced the commencement of a major runway repaving project. The project aims to accommodate larger aircraft and enhance the airport’s capabilities, marking a significant development for the Dalton, GA metro area.

Main Body:
The runway repaving project, the first in over two decades, will temporarily close the airport to air traffic. The upgrade is expected to improve the airport’s infrastructure, allowing it to handle larger planes and increase its operational capacity. The project is part of a broader effort to boost the region’s economic growth and connectivity.

Bruce Frazier, a spokesperson for the City of Dalton, highlighted the importance of the project, stating, “This runway repaving is a critical investment in our airport’s future. By accommodating larger aircraft, we can attract more business and tourism to Dalton, ultimately benefiting our local economy.”

The project has received support from various stakeholders, including local businesses and community leaders. The Dalton Chamber of Commerce expressed optimism about the potential economic impact, noting that improved airport facilities could lead to increased business travel and tourism.

During the construction period, airport officials have coordinated with local pilots and aviation businesses to minimize disruptions. Alternative arrangements have been made for flights, and updates on the project’s progress will be provided regularly to keep the community informed.

Conclusion:
The runway repaving project at Dalton Municipal Airport represents a significant step forward for the Dalton, GA metro area. As the airport prepares to accommodate larger aircraft, the community anticipates positive economic growth and enhanced connectivity. The successful completion of this project will position Dalton as a more attractive destination for business and leisure travel.
