Reasons Why You Should Not Get a Ring Video Doorbell

1. Privacy concerns

While the Ring video doorbell is designed to provide home security, it also poses serious privacy concerns. The doorbell comes equipped with a camera that feeds live video to your home. This means that anyone who visits your home can be recorded and viewed by others. If you’re not comfortable with the idea of being constantly monitored or having video of your front door accessible, then a Ring video doorbell may not be the best option.

2. Expensive

Ring video doorbells can be quite pricey. Depending on the model you choose, you may be looking at spending anywhere from $100-$500+. When you factor in the cost of installation and a monthly subscription fee to access additional features, such as saving videos for more than 24 hours, it can add up quickly.

3. Limited range

The Ring video doorbell works best when it’s within range of your Wi-Fi network. If your house or property is quite large, you may find that the doorbell isn’t able to connect with your network consistently. This could make it difficult to monitor your front door or receive alerts when someone approaches.

4. False alarms

One of the most common complaints about Ring video doorbells is false alarms. The doorbell is designed to trigger when it detects motion or when someone rings the bell. However, it may also go off if a vehicle drives past or if a strong gust of wind blows by. If you have pets or live in an area with high foot traffic, this can become quite annoying.
