Online learning is becoming more and more popular every year because of the convenience and flexibility that it offers. However, there are also many challenges that you will face once enrolling in an online school.

In this article, we will be discussing the answers to questions that many parents have about implementing online learning at home.

How Do I Keep My Child Motivated?

One of the biggest challenges that online students face is staying motivated and disciplined. Since there are no set hours for online learning, it is up to students and their parents to dedicate a certain amount of time each day to studying. Learners should also have a dedicated study space that they can use to work while free of any distractions. This will help the learner fall into a routine, making their studies much easier and more manageable.

Another way parents could help their children stay motivated is by rewarding them after achieving set goals.

How Many Hours Should My Child Study Online A Day?

Your child’s number of hours should study a day entirely depends on how fast they work and how much work their course involves. Physical schooling typically runs for about six hours a day. However, this includes breaks and other interruptions.

Your child should not study much more than six hours or less than one hour per day. However, as we have mentioned, this depends on several factors.

How Can I Help My Child Learn Communication And Collaboration Skills?

One of the most significant disadvantages of online learning is the lack of social interaction. However, it does not have to be this way as various tools can be used to stimulate communication and collaboration skills.

For example, many parents have their children make use of the new app called Pedagogue. Pedagogue is a tool that allows users to communicate and collaborate via video conferencing calls. It can also be used to share learning materials and techniques, making studying more straightforward and versatile.

What Learning Tools Should My Child Use?

As we have mentioned, there are various tools and materials that can be used by online learners to improve their studying experience.

Parents could look into apps, such as Pedagogue, to help enhance their child’s studies. YouTube, Kahoot, Sporcle, and Khan Academy are other examples of learning tools that students could use.

Concluding Thoughts

Online learning comes with various advantages and disadvantages. While it is very convenient and flexible, parents sometimes struggle to keep their child motivated. Below are a few tips that parents could use when implementing online learning at home.

To keep your child motivated, set specific study times, and find them a dedicated study space. Your child should not work for more than six hours or less than one hour per day. Various apps and tools can be used to promote collaboration and communication skills. These apps could also be used to enhance students’ learning experience.
