Introduction

PowerVision, known for its unconventional drone designs, has once again pushed the boundaries of what’s possible with the release of the PowerEgg X2 in March 2025. Building upon the versatility of its predecessor, this new model takes the concept of a multi-function drone to new heights. In this review, we’ll explore how the PowerEgg X2 combines cutting-edge technology with a unique form factor to create a drone that stands out in an increasingly crowded market.

Review

The most striking feature of the PowerVision PowerEgg X2 is undoubtedly its egg-shaped design. When folded, the drone takes on a sleek, oval form that’s both aesthetically pleasing and highly portable. This unique shape isn’t just for show – it allows the PowerEgg X2 to transform into multiple configurations, each serving a different purpose.

In its primary drone configuration, the PowerEgg X2 unfolds to reveal a quadcopter setup with arms that extend from the main body. The propellers are designed to fold away neatly when not in use, contributing to the drone’s compact form factor when packed. Despite its unconventional shape, the PowerEgg X2 is surprisingly stable in flight, thanks to its advanced flight control system and aerodynamic design.

The camera system on the PowerEgg X2 has seen significant improvements over its predecessor. It now features a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of capturing 48MP stills and recording 4K video at up to 60fps. The camera is mounted on a 3-axis gimbal that provides excellent stability during flight. What sets this camera apart is its ability to be detached from the drone and used as a handheld camera. In this configuration, the egg-shaped body serves as an ergonomic grip, complete with physical controls for capturing photos and videos.

One of the most innovative features of the PowerEgg X2 is its waterproof capabilities. With the included waterproof housing, the drone can land on water and even submerge briefly, opening up new possibilities for aerial photography in challenging environments. This feature is particularly useful for capturing unique perspectives in marine environments or during water sports events.

PowerVision has also focused on improving the drone’s AI capabilities. The PowerEgg X2 features an advanced object recognition and tracking system that can identify and follow subjects with remarkable accuracy, even in complex environments. This system is complemented by a suite of intelligent flight modes, including a new “Story Mode” that automatically captures and edits cinematic sequences based on pre-defined templates.

The PowerEgg X2 boasts an impressive flight time of up to 50 minutes in ideal conditions, placing it among the top performers in its class. This extended flight time is particularly useful when using the drone for extended shooting sessions or long-distance flights. The drone’s top speed has also been increased to 40 mph in sport mode, allowing for more dynamic shots and faster transit times.

Connectivity has been significantly improved in the PowerEgg X2. The drone now features a dual-band transmission system that can switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz frequencies on the fly, ensuring a stable connection even in areas with high signal interference. The maximum transmission range has been extended to 10km, providing ample room for long-distance flights.

The controller for the PowerEgg X2 has been redesigned with a focus on ergonomics and functionality. It features a built-in 5.5-inch HD touchscreen that eliminates the need for a separate smartphone. The controller also includes a unique voice control system, allowing users to issue commands hands-free – a feature that’s particularly useful when operating the drone in its handheld camera mode.

PowerVision has introduced a new ecosystem of accessories for the PowerEgg X2, further expanding its versatility. These include a 360-degree camera module that can be attached in place of the standard camera, a thermal imaging camera for industrial applications, and even a small projector that can turn the PowerEgg X2 into a portable presentation device.

On the software side, PowerVision has made significant improvements to its mobile app. The app now includes AI-powered editing tools that can automatically create highlight reels from your footage, as well as a new community feature that allows users to share flight paths and camera settings for specific locations.

Conclusion

The PowerVision PowerEgg X2 is a testament to the power of innovative design in the drone industry. By combining a unique form factor with versatile functionality and advanced technology, PowerVision has created a drone that truly stands out from the crowd. While its unconventional design may not appeal to all users, those who embrace its versatility will find the PowerEgg X2 to be an incredibly capable and flexible tool for a wide range of applications. As we progress through 2025, it’s clear that there’s still room for bold, creative thinking in drone design, and the PowerEgg X2 is leading the charge in this regard.
