As technology advances, many computer manufacturers have started to leave out the numeric keypad on their laptops, making it difficult for users who need it to do calculations or data entry efficiently. However, there is no need to worry as there are several ways to acquire a numeric keypad on your Windows computer without purchasing an external keyboard or calculator.

Here are a few ways to get a numeric keypad in Windows:

1. On-Screen Keyboard

Windows computers come with an on-screen keyboard that can be accessed through the Start menu or by searching for the “on-screen keyboard” on the taskbar. Once opened, click on the “Options” button and choose “Turn on numeric keypad”. The on-screen keyboard will transform into a numeric keypad, allowing you to input numbers just as you would on a physical keyboard.

2. Shortcut Keys

Windows also provides shortcut keys that allow you to use your laptop keyboard as a numeric keypad. Turn on the Num Lock key by pressing “Fn” + “F11” (depending on your laptop model). After that, you can use the following keys as the numeric keypad: “7”, “8”, “9”, “u”, “i”, “o”, “j”, “k”, and “l”. The number “0” can be found by pressing “Fn” + “M”.

3. Third-Party Applications

Several third-party applications can be downloaded on your Windows computer that provides virtual numeric keypads. One of the popular applications is “Numeric Keyboard”. It is easy to use and allows you to input numbers directly on your computer screen without the need for an external keyboard. You can also customize the size and location of the virtual keypad to suit your needs.

4. USB Numeric Keypad

If you prefer a physical keypad, you can purchase a USB numeric keypad that connects to your computer via a USB port. They are relatively inexpensive and are available at computer stores or online shopping websites such as Amazon or eBay. Once connected, Windows will automatically detect the keypad and install any necessary drivers.
