Is Twitch Buffering on Chrome for Windows? Try These Fixes
Twitch buffering is a common issue that many users experience when streaming their favorite games or watching their favorite streamers online. If you’re using Chrome on Windows, you may find that Twitch buffers frequently or even struggles to load altogether. Fortunately, there are some fixes you can try to resolve this issue.
- Clear your cache and cookies
Sometimes, your browser’s cache or cookies can be outdated or corrupted, resulting in issues when loading Twitch. To resolve this, try clearing your cache and cookies in Chrome. Go to the three vertical dots in the top right corner of Chrome and select “Settings”. Under “Privacy and Security”, select “Clear browsing data” and choose “All time” as the time range. Check the boxes for “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files”, then hit “Clear data”.
- Disable Browser Extensions
It is possible that your browser extensions could be interfering with Twitch and causing it to buffer. Try disabling all of your extensions and then see if Twitch starts to load and stream smoothly. To disable extensions, go to the three vertical dots in the top right corner of Chrome and select “More tools” > “Extensions”. You can then toggle off each extension individually or disable all of them by toggling “Developer mode” on and then clicking “Disable” for every extension.
- Check your internet connection
The speed of your internet connection may also affect Twitch’s performance. If your connection speed is slow or unstable, Twitch may buffer frequently. To check your internet connection speed, head to SpeedTest.net and run a test. If your connection is slow or unstable, try resetting your modem and router or contacting your internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
- Change your Twitch settings
Twitch offers several settings you can change to optimize your streaming experience. You can try lowering the video quality or turning off the chat to reduce the amount of data being transferred. To adjust your Twitch settings, click the gear icon on the bottom right corner of the stream and select “Quality” or “Hide chat”. Try switching to a lower quality setting and see if this improves streaming performance.
- Use another browser
If none of the above methods work for you, it may be time to try using another browser. You can try a browser like Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge to see if Twitch is smoother on another platform.
