In this article, we’ll share our test results to find out if Samsung’s 45-Watt phone charger is truly worth it.

To perform this evaluation, we used several test devices – the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy S21 Ultra. These devices support fast charging up to 45-Watt and were charged using both the official Samsung 45W charger and a regular 25W charger for comparison. We analyzed charging times, temperature fluctuations during charging, and overall performance.

Charging Times:

To evaluate the charging times accurately, we charged each device from 0% to 100%. The results displayed that using the Samsung 45W charger did speed up the process, with the Galaxy S21 Ultra taking only approximately one hour to charge fully. On the contrary, using a regular 25W charger led to a slightly slower charging time but not incredibly significant.

Temperature:

While charging our devices with both chargers (45W and 25W), we observed their temperatures to determine if there was any overheating issue. Throughout the course of our tests, there was no significant difference in temperature between both chargers; however, we do recommend avoiding stacking other devices on your phone while it’s charging.

Performance:

The critical factor consumers care about is whether a power boost positively impacts their devices’ overall performance. The reality is that there was no noticeable benefit to using a 45-Watt power adapter instead of a 25-Watt adapter when considering long-term usage. Both chargers effectively managed power delivery without compromising battery life.

So, is Samsung’s renowned 45-Watt phone charger worth it?

The answer lies primarily in the users’ priorities. If shaving off a few extra minutes from your charging time is crucial to you, then the 45-Watt charger is worth the investment. Otherwise, a 25-Watt charger provides a similar charging experience while being more cost-effective.

In conclusion, Samsung’s 45-Watt phone charger does provide faster charging; however, the marginal difference in time saved may not justify the additional cost for many users. It ultimately depends on individual preferences and lifestyle requirements.
