Is Google Fi Worth It? Things to Know Before You Switch

If you’re looking for a new phone carrier, you may have come across Google Fi. Google Fi is a cell phone service provider that promises affordable prices, high-quality service, and easy-to-use plans. But is Google Fi worth it? Here are some things to know before you switch.

Cost

One of the biggest selling points of Google Fi is its affordability. Google Fi has been known to save customers up to 50% on their monthly phone bills. Google Fi only charges users for the data they use, with a base rate of $20 per month for unlimited calls and texts. Additionally, Google Fi offers coverage in over 200 countries at no extra cost, making it an excellent option for frequent travelers.

Service

Google Fi runs on three different networks: T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular. This means that users can switch between networks depending on which one has the strongest signal in their area. Additionally, Google Fi uses a technology called Wi-Fi calling, which allows users to make calls and send texts using Wi-Fi instead of cellular data.

Phone Compatibility

While Google Fi originally only worked with Google’s own Pixel phones, it has since expanded to include many other Android devices and even some iPhones. However, some features, such as Wi-Fi calling, may not be available on every phone. Before switching to Google Fi, it’s vital to check if your device is compatible with this service.

Data Speeds

Google Fi offers some of the fastest data speeds among cell phone carriers. However, after using 22GB of data, users may experience slower speeds during times of network congestion. This can be frustrating for those who regularly stream videos or use a lot of data.

Customer Service

Google Fi has a reputation for excellent customer service. Users can contact support through phone, chat, or email. Additionally, Google Fi has an online forum where users can ask questions and get help from other members of the community.
