This peak not only eclipsed the previous day’s record of 240.1 GW but also marked a significant milestone in the nation’s power consumption journey, according to data released by the Grid Controller of India. The escalating demand raises questions about the sustainability of energy resources and the preparedness of the infrastructure to handle such rapid growth.

The Impact of Soaring Temperatures

The primary driver behind this spike in energy consumption is the relentless rise in temperatures that has gripped various regions of India.
