I Tried Reddit’s “Fudgiest Brownies Ever” and Here’s What I Thought

As I preheated my oven, I was both skeptical and excited to try out the brownie recipe that Reddit users have been raving about as “the fudgiest brownies ever.” The ingredients list wasn’t much different than your typical brownie recipe, but what caught my eye was the unusual method that promised to deliver extra gooey goodness.

Dutifully following every step, I watched as the batter transformed into shiny, thick ribbons. The secret seemed to be in the extensive whipping of eggs and sugar, creating a meringue-like base that would hopefully translate into an extra crackly top. As for the chocolate – it was all about quality and quantity. The recipe called for a generous amount of high-grade cocoa powder and a heap of chopped dark chocolate.

After patiently waiting for the brownies to bake and then cool (arguably the hardest part), it was finally time to take a bite. The first thing I noticed was the texture: they were incredibly dense and, true to their title, outrageously fudgy. Each bite was a rich and decadent chocolate experience, with the deep cocoa flavor punctuated by molten pockets of dark chocolate.

However, as much as I enjoy a good fudge factor, I missed the balance that slightly cakier edges bring to traditional brownies. While these brownies were almost sinfully indulgent, their unyielding richness meant that a small square went a long way – perhaps too long for me.

Despite this personal preference for a little more variety in texture within my brownie pan, it’s hard to fault the recipe for delivering exactly what it promised. These are definitely “sit-down-with-a-glass-of-milk” type of brownies – or perhaps even “grab-a-spoon-and-eat-straight-from-the-pan” if you’re feeling particularly indulgent.

In summary, Reddit’s “Fudgiest Brownies Ever” are perfect for pure chocolate aficionados who like their treats dense and heart-stoppingly rich. And although they may not become my go-to brownie recipe, they’ve certainly earned their place in my dessert repertoire when nothing but the fudgiest treat will do.
