Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N represents the Korean automaker’s first foray into high-performance electric vehicles. Building on the success of the standard Ioniq 5, this N-branded version promises to deliver exhilarating performance while maintaining the practicality of an electric crossover.

Performance Enhancements

The Ioniq 5 N is expected to significantly boost power output compared to the standard model. While exact figures haven’t been confirmed, industry insiders speculate it could produce over 600 horsepower from a dual-motor setup. This would enable blistering acceleration, with a 0-60 mph time potentially under 3.5 seconds.

Chassis and Suspension Upgrades

To handle the increased power, the Ioniq 5 N will feature a thoroughly revised suspension setup. Expect stiffer springs, adaptive dampers, and larger anti-roll bars. The steering system will likely be retuned for more feedback and precision.

Brake System

To ensure the Ioniq 5 N can stop as well as it goes, Hyundai is expected to fit larger brake rotors and more powerful calipers. The regenerative braking system will also likely be calibrated to offer more aggressive energy recuperation, potentially allowing for one-pedal driving in certain conditions.

Exterior Modifications

The N version will feature a more aggressive body kit, including a front splitter, side skirts, and a rear diffuser. A rear spoiler will likely be added to increase downforce at high speeds. Expect to see the signature N brand red accents on various exterior elements.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Ioniq 5 N will likely feature sport seats, a unique N steering wheel, and performance-oriented displays in the digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system may include features like a lap timer and G-force meter.

Battery and Range

While the focus is on performance, Hyundai is still expected to offer a competitive range. The Ioniq 5 N may use a larger battery pack than the standard model to offset the increased power consumption during high-performance driving.

Market Position

The Ioniq 5 N will compete with other high-performance electric crossovers like the Tesla Model Y Performance and the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT. It represents Hyundai‘s commitment to offering exciting, driver-focused vehicles even as it transitions to an electric future.

Expected Release

Hyundai is expected to officially unveil the Ioniq 5 N in late 2023, with sales likely starting in early 2024. This model will play a crucial role in establishing the N brand’s credibility in the electric performance vehicle segment.
