How to Wet Set Hair Rollers: 13 Steps

Step 1: Wash and condition your hair
Begin by washing and conditioning your hair with products that are best suited for your hair type. This will ensure a clean and healthy base for your wet set.
Step 2: Towel dry your hair
Gently squeeze out any excess water from your hair using a towel. Be careful not to rub your hair, as this can cause frizziness.
Step 3: Comb through the tangles
Using a wide-tooth comb, gently comb through any tangles to achieve smooth and detangled hair.
Step 4: Apply styling products
Apply your preferred styling product, such as mousse, gel, or setting lotion, onto your slightly damp hair evenly. These products can help hold the curl and provide a smoother finish.
Step 5: Section your hair
Divide your hair into sections according to the size of the rollers. Smaller sections will create tighter curls, while larger sections will result in looser curls.
Step 6: Start rolling from the top
Working with one section at a time, begin rolling the hair around the roller from the ends of the strands up to the scalp.
Step 7: Secure with clips or pins
Once the roller is in place at the scalp, use roller clips or bobby pins to secure it in place and prevent it from unraveling.
Step 8: Repeat on all sections
Continue rolling each section of your hair following steps 6 and 7 until all sections are complete.
Step 9: Allow time for drying
Allow ample time for your hair to completely dry. You can either air-dry or use a hooded dryer to speed up the process. Be sure not to remove the rollers before your hair is fully dry; otherwise, the curls may not hold their shape.
Step 10: Remove rollers carefully
Starting from the bottom and working your way up, gently remove the rollers one at a time. Be careful not to pull or snag your hair.
Step 11: Loosen the curls
Gently separate curls by running your fingers through your hair to create a more natural look.
Step 12: Apply finishing products
Add a light hold hairspray or finishing product to maintain the curls and provide extra shine.
Step 13: Style as desired
Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to style your curls in your preferred manner, being cautious not to brush out the pattern created by the rollers. Enjoy your beautiful, bouncy, and voluminous wet set curls!
