WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps around the world, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have a dedicated desktop application for Linux users. However, there are a few workarounds that you can use to access WhatsApp on your Linux desktop.

In this article, we will guide you on how to use WhatsApp on your Linux desktop.

How to Install WhatsApp on a Linux Desktop?

Before we start, we suggest that you first set up your Android device with WhatsApp. Once you have set up your WhatsApp account on your Android device, you can follow the steps below to use WhatsApp on your Linux desktop.

Step 1: Install an Android Emulator

The easiest way to access WhatsApp on a Linux desktop is by using an Android emulator. An Android emulator is a software program that allows you to run Android applications on your desktop computer.

Some popular Android emulators include BlueStacks, Genymotion, and Android-x86. You can download any of these emulators and install them on your Linux desktop.

Step 2: Install WhatsApp on the Emulator

After installing the Android emulator, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Android device. Once you have set up the emulator, open the Google Play Store and download WhatsApp on it.

Step 3: Verify Your WhatsApp Account on the Emulator

Once you have installed WhatsApp on the emulator, open it and enter your phone number to verify your account. You will receive a verification code on your phone number; enter this code on the emulator to complete the verification process.

Step 4: Start Chatting!

Once you have completed the verification process, you can start using WhatsApp on your Linux desktop. You can send messages, make calls, and share media files just like you would on your Android device.

Alternative Ways to Use WhatsApp on a Linux Desktop

Apart from using an Android emulator, there are a few other ways to access WhatsApp on a Linux desktop.

1. WhatsApp Web

WhatsApp Web is a web-based client that allows you to access WhatsApp on your desktop. To use WhatsApp Web, open your web browser and go to https://web.whatsapp.com/. Scan the QR code using your phone to link your WhatsApp account with the web client and start chatting.

2. Use WhatsApp on a Virtual Machine

You can use a virtual machine to run a Windows operating system on your Linux desktop and then install WhatsApp on it. This method requires a bit more technical knowledge and can be time-consuming, but it allows you to access all the features of WhatsApp on your desktop.

Conclusion

Using WhatsApp on a Linux desktop may not be as straightforward as using it on an Android device or a Windows PC, but with a few workarounds, you can still access the messaging app on your desktop. Follow the steps outlined in this article to start using WhatsApp on your Linux desktop today!
