Mac users who are used to the Snipping Tool on Windows may wonder how they can make similar screenshots on their Apple computer. Fortunately, there is a tool called “Screenshot” that has similar features and can do basically the same job. In this article, we will show you how to use the Screenshot tool on Mac to capture the images you need.

Firstly, you can access the Screenshot tool by clicking on the Launchpad icon on the Dock – it is the gray rocket icon at the bottom of the screen. Then, click on the “Other” folder, and you will see the “Screenshot” app there.

Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts to use the Screenshot tool. To capture the entire screen, press the “Command (⌘) + Shift + 3” keys simultaneously. Your screenshot will go to the desktop unless you specify otherwise. If you want to capture a portion of the screen – similar to using Snipping Tool, you should press “Command (⌘) + Shift + 4”.

After pressing the “Command (⌘) + Shift + 4” keys, you will see a crosshair icon on the screen. Move this icon to the area of the screen you want to capture using your mouse or trackpad. Once you have selected the area, release the mouse button or detach the trackpad. You will then hear a sound like a camera shutter, which means that the screenshot has been captured.

After taking the screenshots, you may want to edit them. Unlike Snipping Tool, there is no editing feature in the Screenshot tool. But you can easily modify your screenshots in other software, such as Preview or Photoshop.
