How to Use Android 12’s Adaptive Notifications Ranking

Android 12 has brought many new features and improvements, one of which is the adaptive notifications ranking. This feature can learn how you interact with notifications over time and prioritize them accordingly. Here is how to use this feature.

1. Enable Adaptive Notifications Ranking

The first step to use this feature is to enable it. To do so, open the Settings app on your Android 12 device and navigate to Apps & Notifications. Next, select Notifications, and then toggle on the “Adaptive notifications” switch.

2. Interact with Notifications

Once you have enabled adaptive notifications ranking, the system will start learning how you interact with notifications. You can help the system by interacting with your notifications as you usually do. For example, if you always swipe away certain types of notifications without responding to them, the system will learn to prioritize these notifications lower in the ranking.

3. Adjust Notification Importance

If you want to adjust the importance of particular notifications, you can do so by long-pressing on the notification and selecting “All categories.” Here, you can change the importance of the notification from Urgent to High, Medium, or Low, or even block notifications from that app entirely.

4. Pin Important Notifications

If there are certain notifications that you always want to see at the top of your list, you can pin them to the top. Long-press on the notification and select “Pin.” You can also manage your pinned notifications by going to Settings > Notifications > Adaptive notifications > Pinned.

5. Turn Off Adaptive Notification Ranking

If for any reason you do not like the adaptive notification ranking feature, you can turn it off. To do so, go to Settings > Notifications > Adaptive notifications, and toggle off the switch.

In conclusion, Android 12’s adaptive notification ranking is a useful feature that can automatically prioritize notifications based on your interaction with them. You can take advantage of this feature by enabling it, interacting with your notifications as usual, adjusting notification importance, pinning important notifications, and turning it off if needed.
