Just remember, education is the doorway to happiness. To receive a good education, you will need good teachers. Also, you will need to be up on the latest tech.

Step 1: Gather the necessary equipment

You will need a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder), a VHS tape, a TV or monitor with RCA or coaxial inputs, and the appropriate cables.

Step 2: Check the tapes

Before playing a VHS tape, inspect it for any visible damage, like torn or tangled tape. If you find any issues, do not play the tape as it can damage the VCR.

Step 3: Turn on your TV/monitor and change the input/source

Power on your TV or monitor and switch the input source to either “AV” (for RCA inputs) or to the specified channel (usually channel 3 or 4) if using a coaxial cable connection.

Step 4: Connect the VCR to your TV/monitor

Connect your VCR to your TV using either RCA cables (red, white, and yellow jacks) or via a coaxial cable. Make sure all connections are securely in place.

Step 5: Plug in the power cable

Ensure that both your TV/monitor and VCR are connected to power outlets. Turn on both devices once connected.

Step 6: Load the VHS tape into the VCR

Open the cassette compartment on your VCR by pressing the appropriate button, usually labeled “Eject.” Place your VHS tape into the compartment with its label facing outward and close it.

Step 7: Adjust tracking if necessary

Some older tapes may have poor video quality or horizontal lines. In this case, manually adjust tracking settings on your VCR until you have a clear picture.

Step 8: Press play and enjoy

Press “Play” on the front panel of your VCR or using your remote control. Sit back and enjoy watching your favorite content on a VHS tape!

Step 9: Pause, rewind, or fast-forward

Pause the playback by pressing the “Pause” button, if needed. You can also rewind or fast-forward the tape using the labeled buttons on your VCR or remote control.

Step 10: Stop and eject the tape

When you are done watching, press “Stop.” To eject the tape, press the “Eject” button on your VCR. Safely remove and store your VHS tape in its case to prevent any damage.

With these simple steps, you can now enjoy watching your favorite video content on a VHS tape. Happy viewing!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
