Introduction

As technology advances, smartphones have become a popular choice for carrying out various tasks. Among the useful features that iPhones offer is the ability to edit audio recordings with ease. This article will explore some of the simplest ways to edit audio on your iPhone, ranging from built-in tools to third-party applications.

Using Voice Memos – Built-In Tool

The Voice Memos application comes pre-installed on iPhones and it is highly practical for anyone looking to capture their thoughts or record an important conversation. Follow these simple steps to edit your audio recordings using Voice Memos:

1. Launch the Voice Memos app.

2. Select the recording you want to edit.

3. Tap Edit in the upper right corner of the screen.

4. Trim, replace or insert a portion by selecting the desired option at the bottom of the screen.

5. Tap Done in the upper right corner when finished.

GarageBand – Advanced Editing Tool

GarageBand is another pre-installed application that offers more advanced audio editing options when compared to Voice Memos (note that GarageBand might not be installed by default on older devices but can be downloaded for free from the App Store).

Here’s how you can use GarageBand for audio editing:

1. Open GarageBand and create a new project.

2. Import your audio file by tapping on “Audio Recorder” and then “Tracks” view (icon with stacked layers).

3. Press “Import” and choose your file from iCloud Drive, Files app or other compatible apps.

4. Use the editing tools – cut, copy, paste, split, move or resize – according to your needs.

5. Export your edited audio by sharing it via email, messages or other methods.

Third-Party Apps for Audio Editing

There are also several third-party applications available in the App Store that specialize in audio editing. Some popular ones include:

1. Hokusai Audio Editor – A powerful and intuitive audio editor that supports multiple tracks and offers a wide range of tools for editing, filtering and mixing audio.

2. Lexis Audio Editor – A versatile app that allows users to record, trim, copy, paste, add effects and adjust the speed or pitch of an audio file.

3. Ferrite Recording Studio – A great option for podcasters, interviewers and narrators due to its extensive editing features that cater to spoken-word content.

Conclusion

With a plethora of available tools and applications to choose from, there’s no reason why you can’t take advantage of your iPhone’s capabilities to edit audio. The aforementioned built-in applications like Voice Memos and GarageBand are perfect starting points for basic and advanced audio editing. For even more specialized methods and tailored functions, third-party apps may come in handy. Regardless of your approach, you’ll soon find that editing audio on your iPhone is easier than ever.
