How to Use a Needle Threader: 9 Steps

A needle threader is a handy tool for threading needles, making the process easier and quicker. Here are nine simple steps on how to use a needle threader effectively.

1. Gather your materials: Before starting, ensure you have a needle threader, a needle with an eye (the hole where the thread goes in), and the thread you wish to use.

2. Prepare the thread: Cut the end of your thread at an angle, ensuring it is clean and free of fraying. This will make it easier to insert the thread into the needle eye.

3. Hold the needle securely: Grip the needle between your thumb and index finger confidently, with the eye of the needle facing towards you.

4. Insert the needle threader: Take your needle threader in your other hand and gently insert its wire loop through the eye of the needle until it’s all the way through.

5. Thread the needle threader: Pass your prepared thread through the wire loop of your needle threader, making sure it goes all the way into the loop. You may need to pinch it between your fingers if it’s too slippery to hold.

6. Hold onto both ends of the thread: While keeping tension on both ends of your thread, get ready to pull them through.

7. Pull the thread through: With gentle yet steady force, carefully pull back on your needle threader, guiding the wire loop through the eye of your needle while staying mindful not to bend or break it.

8. Release the threaded needle: Once your thread is pulled entirely through around 3-4 inches long, let go off its end and remove your threaded needle from its position.

9. Final adjustments: Trim any excess or frayed ends of your thread after threading and tie off both cut ends together into a knot to prevent slipping out if needed.

Now that you know how to use a needle threader, it’s time to keep practicing until you become a pro at threading needles. Remember always to be patient, gentle, and pay close attention to avoid any accidental damage or injury. Happy sewing!
