How to Unfollow Facebook Pages You Don’t Relate to Anymore
Are you finding your Facebook feed cluttered with posts from pages that no longer interest you? It’s a common issue as our interests evolve over time, but thankfully, Facebook has made it easy to unfollow pages and clean up your newsfeed. Here’s how to unfollow Facebook pages you don’t relate to anymore:
Step 1: Accessing Your Followed Pages
Log in to your Facebook account and click on your profile picture to go to your profile. On the left-hand side, you’ll see a tab called ‘Pages.’ Clicking on this will reveal a list of all the pages you’ve liked.
Step 2: Reviewing the Pages List
Take some time to scroll through this list. As you review it, consider which pages’ content is no longer relevant or interesting to you. Sometimes our interests or beliefs change, or perhaps the page’s content has shifted in a direction that doesn’t align with what you want to see.
Step 3: Unfollowing a Page
Once you’ve identified a page you want to unfollow, click on the page itself to go to its homepage. Underneath the page’s cover photo, you will find a button that shows that you have liked the page – it might simply say ‘Liked’ with a thumbs-up icon. Click this button, and a dropdown menu will appear.
Step 4: Confirming the Unfollow
In the dropdown menu, you’ll see an option to ‘Unfollow.’ Select this option. By doing so, you are choosing not to receive updates from this page in your newsfeed anymore; however, you will still technically ‘like’ the page, which can be useful if you’re unfollowing businesses or organizations but still want to show support.
Step 5: Unliking the Page (Optional)
If unfollowing isn’t enough and you’d also like to unlike the page completely, then in that same dropdown menu where you found ‘Unfollow,’ there should also be an option to ‘Like’ or ‘Unlike.’ If it says ‘Like,’ it means that currently, you don’t like the page; if it says ‘Unlike,’ clicking this will remove your like from the page entirely.
Step 6: Managing Future Page Likes
Going forward, be more selective about liking pages. Take a moment before hitting ‘like’ on any page to consider whether its content is something that aligns with your present interests and if it’s likely that you’ll enjoy seeing regular updates from them on your feed.
Following these steps can help ensure that your Facebook experience is tailored more closely to your current interests and preferences. Remember that your social media space is yours. Taking control of what fills your feed can lead to a far more enjoyable and relevant social media experience.
