If you’re someone who works on your Mac late at night, the bright light from your screen can be harsh on your eyes. The good news is that you can now enable Dark Mode on your Mac to reduce eye strain and make using your computer easier on the eyes.

What is Dark Mode?

Dark mode is a feature that switches the color display of your Mac from the light background to a dark background. This feature has become popular in recent years because it is more comfortable on the eyes, especially in low light.

How to Turn Dark Mode On?

Turning Dark Mode on your Mac is easy. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Click on the Apple logo at the top left corner of your screen.

Step 2: Select “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Click on “General.”

Step 4: Look for “Appearance” and click on “Dark.”

Step 5: Restart your Mac to apply the changes.

How to Turn Dark Mode Off?

If you want to switch back to the default light mode, here are the steps to follow:

Step 1: Click on the Apple logo at the top left corner of your screen.

Step 2: Select “System Preferences” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Click on “General.”

Step 4: Look for “Appearance” and click on “Light.”

Step 5: Restart your Mac to apply the changes.

What Apps Support Dark Mode?

Most of the Apple apps already support Dark Mode, such as Safari, Mail, Notes, and Photos. Additionally, many third-party apps also support Dark Mode, including Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Slack, and many others. When you enable Dark Mode on your Mac, most of your commonly used apps should switch to dark mode automatically.

Conclusion

Enabling Dark mode on your Mac is an excellent way to reduce eye strain and make using your computer more comfortable at night. With these easy steps mentioned above, you can enable or disable Dark Mode on your Mac within a few clicks. Give it a try and see it for yourself!
